【摘要】:Forhydrocarbonresins,softeningdoesnottakeplaceatadefinitetemperature.Asthetemperaturerises,thesematerialsgraduallychangefrombrittlesolidsorveryviscousliquidstolessviscousliquids.Forthisreason,determinationofthesofteningpointmustbemadebyafixed,arbitrary,andcloselydefinedmethodiftheresultsobtainedaretobecomparable.1.1Thesetestmethodsareintendedfordeterminingthesofteningpointofhydrocarbonresinsandsimilarmaterialsbymeansofanautomatedring-and-ballapparatus.Portionsaresimilarintechnicalcontenttotheautomated-apparatusversionsofTestMethodsD36,E28,andISO4625.1.1.1Thering-and-ballsofteningpointofahydrocarbonresinmayalsobedeterminedwithlowerprecisionusingthemanualring-and-ballsofteningpointprocedureinTestMethodsE28.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandardmethoddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
