【摘要】:Thistestmethodisnormallyusedtoevaluatethebarriereffectivenessagainstliquidsofmaterialsusedforprotectiveclothingandspecimensfromfinisheditemsofprotectiveclothing.5.1.1Finisheditemsofprotectiveclothingincludegloves,armshields,aprons,suits,hoods,boots,andthelike.5.1.2Thephrasex201C;specimensfromfinisheditemsx201D;encompassesseamedandotherdiscontinuousregionsaswellastheusualcontinuousregionsofprotectiveclothingitems.Asubstitutechallengeliquid(forexample,water)isappropriateinsomecases.However,itispossiblethatdifferencesinchemicalandmolecularproperties(forexample,surfacetension)leadtodifferentresults.1.1Thistestmethodisusedtotestspecimensofprotectiveclothingandcandidatematerialsandconstructionstobeusedinprotectiveclothing.Theresistancetovisiblepenetrationofthetestliquidisdeterminedwiththeliquidincontinuouscontactwiththenormallyoutsidesurfaceofthetestspecimen.1.2Insomecases,significantamountsofhazardousmaterialswillpermeatespecimensthatpassthepenetrationtests.FormoresensitiveanalysisuseTestMethodF739todeterminepermeation.1.3Thistestmethodisnotapplicabletofingertipsorcrotchareasofgloves,whicharepossiblefailurepoints.1.4Thevaluesasstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinbracketsareforinformationonly.1.5Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecifichazardsaregiveninSection7.
