【摘要】:Itisimportanttorecognizethattheresultsobtainedbythistestmethodoranyothermethodforparticlesizedeterminationutilizingdifferentphysicalprinciplesmaydisagree.Theresultsarestronglyinfluencedbyphysicalprinciplesemployedbyeachmethodofparticlesizeanalysis.Theresultsofanyparticlesizingmethodshouldbeusedonlyinarelativesenseandshouldnotberegardedasabsolutewhencomparingresultsobtainedbyothermethods.Lightscatteringtheories(FraunhoferDiffraction3andMieScattering4)thatareusedfordeterminationofparticlesizehasbeenavailableformanyyears.Severalmanufacturersoftestingequipmentnowhaveunitsbasedontheseprinciples.Althougheachtypeoftestingequipmentutilizesthesamebasicprinciplesforlightscatteringasafunctionofparticlesize,differentassumptionspertinenttoapplicationofthetheoryanddifferentmodelsforconvertinglightmeasurementstoparticlesize,mayleadtodifferentresultsforeachinstrument.Furthermore,anyparticleswhichareoutsidethesizemeasurementrangeoftheinstrumentwillbeignored,causinganincreaseinthereportedpercentageswithinthedetectablerange.Aparticlesizedistributionwhichendsabruptlyatthedetectionlimitoftheinstrumentmayindicatethatparticlesoutsidetherangearepresent.Therefore,useofthistestmethodcannotguaranteedirectlycomparableresultsfromdifferenttypesofinstruments.Thistestmethodcanbeusedtodetermineparticlesizedistributionsofcatalystsandsupportsformaterialsspecifications,manufacturingcontrol,andresearchanddevelopmentwork.1.1Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationoftheparticlesizedistributionofcatalystandcatalystcarrierparticlesandisoneofseveralfoundvaluableforthemeasurementofparticlesize.Therangeofparticlesizesinvestigatedwas30to300956;mequivalentsphericaldiameter.Thetechniqueiscapableofmeasuringparticlesaboveandbelowthisrange.Theangleandintensityoflaserlightscatteredbytheparticlesareselectivelymeasuredtopermitcalculationofavolumedistributionusinglight-scatteringtechniques.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
